Elementary Fitness Goals
Ideas for an elementary school running the program?
Elementary school my son has a running program in which children run laps at recess and have a laminated card punched after each round. The overall aim was to fitness, and 1/5th of the school ran 26.2 miles during the year. 11 races over 100 miles (two of them over 200 miles). We want to improve the overall program – so I appreciate the ideas. We also want to get some free swag for boys of execution or other companies – especially t-shirts for all the shoes for less advantaged children. All ideas are appreciated here as well. At this time the program recognizes the children with medals for every 26.2 (a different one) and a trophy for 100 kilometers. There is also a thermometer on the wall paper in increments of mileage and children's names on feet of paper to the appropriate level.
Why not have a fundraiser where kids can go around and ask neighbors / friends to sponsor them to say 10 cents a ride. At the end of fundrasier (that goes for a month?) The funds raised will go towards shoes, shirts, rolling, etc. for all those involved and the rewards can Jump kids running more, the guys who raised the most, etc. That way you also get the community involved! Then other fun things, I am a teacher (s) who will do something crazy if you reach a certain goal, shave your head, wear crazy clothes to school, so children eat it up! Hope that helps!
